High school students were invited to attend this expo that was hosted by The City of Houston Human Resources Dept. They were exposed to career opportunities available in local government as well as in Houston's major growth industries. College reps and counselors were on hand.
Donuts with Dad will be held on Tues., Nov. 19th for grades PK1-5th. The Book Fair will also be open at that time. RSVP slip will be sent home today. This notice must be filled out, so we know how many donuts to order. Your RSVP is required and the form must be turned in by Fri., Nov. 15th. Cash donations are welcome to help pay for this event.
The elementary level of the annual Science Fair has been rescheduled due to the fall break. We have extended it for one week. A new science fair calendar is on the back of this newsletter. Teachers will help the students every Friday during class. The Science Fair Packet is available on Orbund and can be seen and downloaded here.
Parents are strongly advised not to leave ANY of your personal items in your car when you come into the school. Also, we ask that you all be a cautious and courteous driver when dropping and picking up your children.
Progress reports will be available on Orbund on Nov. 13th.
Grades PK-1st will have an “In-Trip” on Fri., Nov. 15th with the Houston Museum of Natural Science in the school gymnasium. Cost per student is $5.00. Please give money to your child’s teacher by Wed., Nov. 13th.
Immunization requirement notice was sent out to several 7th grade parents and was due back by Nov. 8th. Please submit if you have not done so.
This year’s Book Fair schedule will be: - Nov. 18-22 (Mon-Thurs): 3:30-5:00 -Nov. 19 (Tues): 8:15-9:00am
DUA’s MSA will be holding a can food drive until Nov. 14th. All donations will be sent to the Houston Community Food Bank. The winning classes from elementary, middle and high school who donate the most cans will receive a choice of an ice cream or pizza party. Show your support and beat the other classes!
First round spelling bee will be held on Mon., Nov. 25th. Top 5 students from each class will go to the second round on Jan. 9th. First place winner from the second round will go to District spelling bee. Spelling bee list was sent home last month for students in grades 1st-8th for practice.
